Thierry Henry was once again named MLS Player of the Week
New York Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry was named the MLS Player of the Week on Monday, the fifth time he's won the award this season.
Henry captured MLS Player of the Week after he notched one goal and three assists in the Red Bulls' 4-1 win over Toronto FC on Saturday. He became the first New York player to record three or more assists in more in a match in more than a decade. The performance was just the latest in what has been a tremendous season for Henry. In 22 regular season games, Henry has 14 goals and 12 assists. He also has four multi-goal matches this season.
He became the first player in MLS history to win three straight Player of the Week awards earlier this season. He won the award for the fourth time two weeks ago before earning his fifth honor this week. The award is selected by a panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters.
