The Europeans won the 2012 Ryder Cup with an incredible performance on Sunday at the Medinah Country Club.

The 2012 Ryder Cup was one of the most thrilling in history thanks to an improbable 14.5-to-13.5 European come-from-behind victory on Sunday.

The Americans had dominated most of the first two rounds with brilliant shots and ample hot-streaks on their home turf. It appeared as though nothing could stop Keegan Bradley, Phil Mickelson and the others at Medinah Country Club, with the Red, White and Blue holding a 10-to-6 advantage heading into the final day.

However, with the memory of Seve Ballesteros in the heads of the Europeans and literally on their sleeves, they fought back to claim perhaps the most shocking comeback in Ryder Cup history. The tournament was sealed on a short putt by Martin Kaymer, ensuring the defeat of Steve Stricker.

At the moment of victory, Europe's captain Jose Maria Olazabal was overcome with emotion.

"This one is for all of Europe," Olazabal said. "Seve will always be present with this team. He was a big factor for this event for the European side, and last night when we were having that meeting, I think the boys understood that believing was the most important thing. And I think they did."

Europe has won the last two Ryder Cups and will have a chance to make it three straight in 2014 at Gleneagles, Scotland.
