Salsa-dancing New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz won't be appearing on Dancing With The Stars. Cruz has apparently turned down a request to appear on the show.
Cruz has risen from NFL nobody to cult hero status with record-setting play on the field and a magnetic personality that draws people to him and gets fans at MetLife Stadium chanting his name when he catches a pass.
Cruz recently salsa-danced during halftime of a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, showing off how to do his now-famous touchdown dance.
Athletes have won the competition several times. Hines Ward of the Pittsburgh Steelers was the latest, winning with Kym Johnson in spring of 2011.
Good to see, though, that Cruz is keeping his feet on the ground and trying to keep his focus on football. The Giants are, after all, preparing for a playoff game Sunday at MetLife Stadium against the Atlanta Falcons.
