Carmelo Anthony Could Return Monday For Orlando Game

Carmelo Anthony is thinking of playing on Martin Luther King day for the Knicks. They desperately need him.

Carmelo Anthony could be back in uniform Monday against the Orlando Magic after suffering a sprained ankle last week against the Memphis Grizzlies.

According to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News, Anthony will likely give it a go against the Magic. The Knicks need him in the worst way after suffering a blowout loss in Oklahoma City over the weekend. Mike D'Antoni is already on the hot seat with his star cast only a mediocre 6-6.

Anthony has been brilliant this season in nine games, averaging 25.5 points and over six rebounds per game. It's been a struggle for New York to find a rhythm after adding Tyson Chandler to the fold and inserting Iman Shumpert into the starting lineup. While the rookie has played well, Shumpert is still learning and makes young mistakes.

Having a player of Anthony's caliber back in the lineup would be a huge boost for a team in desperate search of one.

"It's sore, but if I can go, I will go,'' said Anthony. "It's time to get going right now.''
