Burnett for the final spot in the pitching rotation. Instead, Hughes got knocked around as Boston won, assuring that the Red Sox will end the three-game series with the Yankees in first place in the American League East.

Crisp Mets Take Out Marlins, 3-2: Good pitching always makes a team look better. Wednesday night the maligned Mets' bullpen provided it with four shutout innings as New York topped Florida.
