Jose Reyes To Disabled List With Hamstring Injury

Jose Reyes' incredible season will be derailed for the next few weeks due to a hamstring injury. The New York Mets today placed Reyes on the disabled list and recalled infielder Nick Evans from Triple-A Buffalo.

Reyes is reportedly expected to miss at least three weeks with the injury. He has been out since July 3.

Reyes, 28, has been enjoying the best season of his nine-year big-league career. He is leading the National League in hitting with a .354 batting average, has 11 home runs, 54 RBI, 30 stolen bases, a .529 slugging percentage and a .927 OPS. Reyes is in the final year of his contract. He was also just voted to start for the National League in the All-Star Game.

Reyes has spent considerable time on the disabled list the past three seasons. In 2009 he had a lingering calf injury and played only 36 games. In 2010 he played 133 games, missing significant time with a thyroid condition.
