Damien Woody Retires, Wayne Hunter Resigned

Stay connected for news and updates

In a somewhat surprising move, veteran right tackle Damien Woody has retired. He had said earlier in the week, he would return to the New York Jets or retire, but would not come back at veteran's minimum salary or without a guarantee to start. Clearly the Jets weren't offering that and decided to bring back Hunter, who was pretty good filling in Woody at the end of last season.

Hunter will compete with second year lineman Vladimir Ducasse for the starting right tackle spot. His deal is reported as being for 4 years and 13 million dollars and is likely structured not to have a major impact on the Jets cap situation this year.

Woody had been the Jets starting right tackle the past three seasons and we wish him well moving forward in his post football life.
