Red Bulls 1, Whitecaps 1: WInless Streak Extends to Five Games

At least the New York Red Bulls are getting points.

That's one of the positives for a Red Bull team that always seems to find an equalizer, but can't seem to find the go-ahead goals.

Eric Hassli scored his fourth goal of the year 24 minutes into the contest, making good on a penalty kick opportunity. And, in typical New York fashion during this winless streak, the Red Bulls struck back almost instantly. Luke Rodgers buried his fith goal of the year off a pretty feed from Jan Gunnar Solli, which he one-touched into the back of the net.

The draw, which gives New York a single point in the standings, isn't all bad however.

The Red Bulls tied Vancouver without designated players Thierry Henry and Rafa Márquez. If the Red Bulls can stay competitive, which they have during this winless streak, without their top players then fans can't be too unhappy with the current lack of wins. WIth players about to get marching orders from national teams for the Gold Cup, and Henry and Marquez ailing, points are points.

For now the draws are OK, but as the season continues to move forward the Red Bulls are going to need to stop letting two points slip off the table if they truly want to contend for the MLS title.
