New York Liberty Selects Alex Montgomery In 2011 NBA Draft

With the 10th overall selection in Monday’s WNBA Draft, the New York Liberty selected Alex Montgomery, a guard/forward out of Georgia Tech.

Montgomery, 6-foot-1, averaged 14.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game during her career at Georgia Tech.

Here is a little piece of information about Montgomery from Swish Appeal, SB Nation’s women’s college hoops website.

Montgomery will certainly find herself in the draft. She can play the point, shoot the three, rebound and defend.

In the second round the Liberty chose Angel Robinson of Marquette.

Maya Moore of UConn was the first player selected. The superstar from the perennial powerhouse Huskies was taken by the Minnesota Lynx.

The first round is as follows:

Minnesota Lynx | Maya Moore | Connecticut
Tulsa Shock | Elizabeth Cambage | Australia
Chicago Sky | Courtney Vandersloot | Gonzaga
Minnesota Lynx | Amber Harris | Xavier
Los Angeles Sparks | Jantel Lavender | Ohio St.
San Antonio Silver Stars | Danielle Robinson | Oklahoma
Tulsa Shock | Kayla Pedersen | Stanford
Atlanta Dream | Ta’Shia Phillips | Xavier
Indiana Fever | Jeanette Pohlen | Stanford
New York Liberty | Alex Montgomery | Georgia Tech
Washington Mystics | Victoria Dunlap | Kentucky
Seattle Storm | Jasmine Thomas | Duke
