New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora could miss his third consecutive game this Sunday when the Giants host the Washington Redskins. Umenyiora has been out of the lineup after suffering an ankle injury in the Giants' Monday Night Football loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said Monday that the team was "hoping, but we're going to have to wait and see," if Umenyiora and safety Kenny Phillips (knee) could return this week.

The Giants could use Umenyiora this week. Defensive end Justin Tuck has a toe injury and is uncertain whether he can play this week. Without Tuck and Umenyiora the Giants would have only three defensive ends -- Jason Pierre-Paul, Dave Tollefson and rookie undrafted free agent Justin Trattou.

Umenyiora missed the first three games of the season after undergoing knee surgery during training camp. In eight games Umenyiora has recorded seven sack and 32 tackles.
