The Army Black Knights fell to 3-9 on the the season and 0-7 on the road today when they lost to long-time rival, the 5-7 Navy Midshipmen by a final score of 27-21. Dating back to 2001, when Army won their last game against Navy, Navy has now won 10 consecutive meetings with the Black Knights. The all-time series is now 53-49 in favor of Navy.
In a battle between two notorious run-first teams, Navy was able to win the game by completing only a single pass for 13 yards. Quarterback Kriss Procter only attempted three passes. For Army, quarterback Trent Steelman finished four of eight for 77 yards and touchdown.
Both teams got it done on the ground, as usual. Navy rushed for 296 yards on 66 attempts, and Army rushed for 298 yards on 50 carries.
Army had three turnovers, Navy only had two. Army's last turnover was costly. They had the possession of the ball down only three with 12 minutes remaining when Procter fumbled the ball, gave it right back to Navy which kicked its second consecutive field goal, stretching the lead to six. There was no scoring from that point on.
