SB Nation New York's Jared Smith has been rolling lately. But, this week there are a lot of tough match ups. Here are his Week 9 NFL Picks and Predictions for the New York Giants and Jets.
Last week, I kept it rolling with my NFL picks going 3-2 after starting off 0-2 in my early-game predictions. Over the past two weeks, I am 7-3, however, both SB Nation New York's local teams, the New York Giants and Jets, are back on the schedule. So, I will not be able to pick an extra game that has been helping me out.
Can the Jets down the Bills? Or, the Giants pull off a big upset over the Giants? Without further delay, here's my Week 9 NFL predictions:
Bills (-2) vs. Jets (1 p.m. on CBS): Last year, New York dominated Buffalo in both meeting between these two AFC East rivals, but that was a completely different Bills squad. New York needs a victory so it doesn't fall too far behind in the playoff race. That's why they find a way to win a close one. Prediction: Jets 20, Bills 19.
Patriots (-9) vs. Giants (4:15 p.m. on CBS): There's no doubting how good New England's offense is and how inconsistent New York's all-around play has been. However, it seems the G-Men respond after a sluggish game, which they had last week in a victory against the Miami Dolphins. Look for the Giants to beat the spread, but lose a tight one. Prediction: Patriots 24, Giants 20.
Packers (-6) at Chargers (4:15 p.m. on CBS): Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers is on his way to his first MVP season, while San Diego quarterback Phillip Rivers is really struggling. I am taking Green Bay despite a decent point spread. Prediction: Packers 28, Chargers 16.
Steelers (-3) vs. Ravens (8:20 p.m. on NBC): This match up is always a brawl and a perfect Sunday Night contest. Pittsburgh has been playing great lately, while the Baltimore's offense has really struggled. That's a perfect formula for a Steelers victory. Prediction: Steelers 24, Ravens 10.
Eagles (-7) vs. Bears (8:30 p.m. on ESPN): A few weeks ago, this Monday Night match up would have been a good one. But, right now Philadelphia's offense is rolling and Chicago just never seems to play its best in prime time. Prediction: Eagles 33, Bears 20.
Last Week: 3-2. Overall: 19-13-2.
