New York Jets Coach Rex Ryan was not too happy with what he saw from his offense in a 9-3 victory over Carolina Saturday evening in a preseason game.
“I told (Panthers coach) John Fox it looked like a pillow fight out there with both offenses struggling. Obviously on offense, we got it handed to us pretty good. But I know we can play better than that.”

The quarterbacks weren't good. Neither was most of the offensive line. A lot of other guys were solid. It's not the worst thing in the world for the team to have a bad preseason game. I think back to 2002 when the Jets couldn't do anything wrong in preseason and promptly bombed the start of the regular season. Games like this can refocus a team and remind it to work on fundamentals. That's why it's preseason. The main thing for me is that there were no injuries to major players. That makes this game a success to me.

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) – Nick Folk booted three field goals to lead New York to a 9-3 win over Carolina at Bank of America Stadium.
Mark Sanchez completed 5-of-10 passes for 12 yards and Joe McKnight carried 11 times for 28 yards for the Jets, who improved to 1-1 in preseason play despite gaining only 112 yards. LaDanian Tomlinson ran for 26 yards on three carries after gaining 17 yards in the Jets’ preseason opener against the Giants.
Matt Moore completed 6-for-17 passes and Jimmy Clausen came off the bench to throw for 72 yards on 9-of-22 passing for Carolina, which dipped to 0-2 in regular season tuneups. DeAngelo Williams toted six times for 26 yards for the Panthers, who netted only 175 yards of offense.
Folk’s first boot in the first quarter was from 43 yards away and was set up by a muffed punt that was recovered by New York at the Carolina 35-yard line.
His second field goal of the half, a 36-yarder, 41 seconds into the second stanza put the visitors up, 6-0. Again, the short scoring drive was set up by a muffed punt that New York recovered at the Panthers’ 12-yard line.
Carolina got on the board just over two minutes into the third quarter on John Kasay’s 42-yard field goal.
Folk then connected from 49 yards away in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring.

(Sports Network) - Fans at Bank of America Stadium will get a first-hand opportunity to witness the work of the new-look Carolina Panthers offense on Saturday night, when John Fox's squad welcomes the New York Jets to Charlotte in the second preseason game for each team.
With Matt Moore beginning his first season as the Panthers' top quarterback, Carolina fans will be expecting to see some crisp work from the first-team offense.
Moore played only briefly in the Panthers' 17-12 loss at the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday, completing 4-of-7 passes for 32 yards before yielding to backups. Among those reserves was rookie second-rounder Jimmy Clausen, who completed 8-of-15 passes for 80 yards and an interception.
Clausen, who is viewed by many as the future at the quarterback position for Carolina, should play extensively on Saturday.
Among those who won't appear for the Panthers is wide receiver Steve Smith, whose broken arm is expected to sideline him for the remainder of the preseason. Running back Jonathan Stewart (Achilles') is a question mark for Saturday.
Smith's absence should give four players competing for the No. 2 wideout job - Brandon LaFell, Dwayne Jarrett, Wallace Wright and Kenny Moore - more of a chance to show what they can do against the Jets.
New York, meanwhile, will be back in action just five days after its 31-16 loss to the Giants in Monday night's debut of New Meadowlands Stadium.
Quarterback Mark Sanchez was 13-of-17 passing for 119 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the contest, but the Jets defense was surprisingly a trouble area for Rex Ryan's team.
With All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis still embroiled in a contract dispute with the team, the Jets allowed Giants undrafted rookie free agent wideout Victor Cruz to catch six passes for 145 yards and three touchdowns.
On the injury front for the Jets, center Nick Mangold (head) could be held out against the Panthers for precautionary reasons.
The Jets and Panthers will be meeting in preseason action for the first time.
The franchises last met in meaningful play in Week 12 of last season, a 17-6 Jets win at the Meadowlands.
