Mike Haviland, assistant coach for the newly-crowned Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, is interested in the New Jersey Devils’ vacant head coaching job.

Asked if he expected to be interviewed by either the Devils or Atlanta Thrashers in the coming days, Haviland said: “I hope so. It would be nice ti be rewarded for this. But those things happen when they happen and you have to live with it. It’s a tough business. But if it comes along, I’m ready. I know that.”
